FIVS comprises a General Assembly, a Presidential Council, three Working Groups, two Committees, and a Secretariat.

The General Assembly sets the overall direction for the federation and includes representatives from each member.

The Presidential Council implements the strategies set by the General Assembly and consists of a president, three vice-presidents, a secretary, an assistant secretary, a treasurer, and an assistant treasurer. A member emeritus also assists with targeted initiatives.
