Reflecting on FIVS at Wine Paris

This year FIVS was an Institutional Partner at Wine Paris, the world’s biggest wine trade fair and with a growing lowno and spirits interest.

Thanks to the organisers Camille Cordasco and Rodolphe Lameyse for our Institutional Partnership this year that saw FIVS lead a panel “Trade Disrupted: Tariffs, Non-Tariff Barriers & the New Competitive Landscape” that considered both tariffs and also the strain that trade under open and rules‑based norms is under. We heard how the sector is navigating and responding to the current trade landscape, but also the forward-looking opportunities in emerging markets such as India, and Mercosur and African countries. Thanks to Honore C. of the Wine Institute, Marzia Varvaglione of Varvaglione 1921 and John Alistair Clarke, former senior trade negotiator, who brought distinct and valuable perspectives from the global trade landscape to the realities facing producers and the opportunities emerging in new markets.

FIVS’ Laura Gelezuinas took part in a high-value panel discussion led by the World Spirits Alliance panel “How Global Discussions Shape Every Sip: Demystifying Multilateral Organizations”. She was joined by Helen Medina, CEO of World Spirits Alliance, Julian Braithwaite, CEO of International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (IARD); and Cecile Duprez-Naudy, Head of Global Public Affairs at Moët Hennessy, the moderator. The session explored how timely, credible collaboration with multilateral organisations can generate concrete wins for consumers and business and drive progress on responsible policy, open trade, and sector sustainability.

Across the 3-day event, FIVS met with many of our global members and engaged with a broad range of drinks stakeholders from policy makers and experts to the supply chain and world of marketing, sales, retail, and hospitality. These conversations help shape and target FIVS’ operations and work programmes and grow our understanding.

Grateful to all the contributors, attendees, and to Vinexposium for hosting another excellent event. Wine Paris continues to be a vibrant hub for connection, learning, and industry best‑practice exchange. Excited to return in 2026!
