Member Highlight: 2025 California Wine Community Sustainability Report

We are pleased to highlight the publication of the 2025 California Wine Community Sustainability Report by FIVS member, the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA).

The latest results demonstrate the scale of sustainability efforts across California’s wine sector:

  • 70% of California winegrape acreage is now certified sustainable.
  • 90%+ of California wine is produced in a certified sustainable winery.
  • Over the past five years, improvements were recorded across 65% of vineyard criteria and 53% of winery criteria.

Importantly, these results reflect a sustained, collaborative effort by growers, wineries and industry partners to translate sustainability commitments into measurable action - from soil health and resource management to community impact.

California’s experience is a strong example of how the wine sector can drive practical, scalable approaches to sustainability in agriculture.

Congratulations to CSWA and all those contributing to this progress! Read the full report here.
