Trade barriers: Maintaining open trade for wine is one of FIVS’s top priorities

Yesterday I presented the FIVS's “Good Regulatory Principles for Electronic Labelling (e-labelling)”, to the OIV - International Organisation of Vine and Wine Law and Consumer Information Expert Group. The FIVS' e-Labelling Principles support governments considering introducing e-labels.

The Principles offer a shared foundation and common direction, while allowing the flexibility needed to reflect different regulatory systems and cultural contexts. They were borne of FIVS’s desire to avoid the development of conflicting rules that can lead to the introduction of trade barriers.

Aligning e-labelling approaches will reduce costs, improve compliance and benefit consumers.

Thanks to the OIV - International Organisation of Vine and Wine for the opportunity to present and we look forward to further constructive dialogue on the future of #wine labelling.
