FIVS was pleased to join the recent World Wine Trade Group (#WWTG) meeting in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, where our CEO Julie Hesketh-Laird and Laura Gelezuinas reintroduced FIVS – The International Wine Federation – and shared updates on our current initiatives to help shape wine’s future.
With many members in common, FIVS supports organisations like WWTG by contributing sectoral intelligence, technical expertise, and practical insight to help shape standards and policies that are both workable and fair.
We especially value WWTG’s focus on principles: the Tbilisi Principles (2014) promoting good regulatory practices; the Cape Town Principles enhancing coherence and mutual recognition; and the Neuquén Principles (2018) addressing cumulative regulatory impacts, transparency, and early consultation. These frameworks are vital to advancing international dialogue on wine trade.
At the meeting, FIVS also highlighted our ongoing work to ensure digital labelling rules are implemented smoothly - supporting trade and avoiding unintended barriers.
Huge thanks to #WWTG for bringing together industry and government to tackle global trade challenges. We look forward to continued collaboration.
Grateful to Wine Growers Canada and Wine Growers British Columbia British for hosting us in such an exciting Canadian wine region!
