FIVS General Assembly: Brussels

It was a pleasure to lead our FIVS in-person meetings and a General Assembly in Brussels.

We had a productive couple of days in the context of profound geopolitical uncertainties and significantly shifting consumer behaviours. The atmosphere was positive as the diverse & resilient wine sector navigates these pressures. Our contributions at the @WHO Economic Operators Dialogue on 15 April - representing a consensus VoiceofWine – had set the scene, demonstrating responsibility and wine’s commitment to long-term sustainability in all we do.

FIVS provides the singular opportunity for the global wine community to come together to share insights and move forward, together with confidence. We discussed and grew all-sector alignment on the most critical matters impacting the future of wine, including our unique position as Official Observers of both Codex Alimentarius and the OIV, discussing our inputs to their upcoming meetings this month and next. Unsurprisingly, fair and proportionate rules-based trade with open markets was also an important focus of discussions.

With thanks to our fantastic session speakers Luís Sequeira Adriaan Oelofse Elena Panichi Nadia Frittella & Antonio Fuentes Máiquez for insights and stimulating important conversations. And our brilliant hosts White & Case LLP team for insights and generous hosting.
