Usage in Winemaking:

Dimethyl polysiloxane (polydimethylsiloxane) is used as an antifoaming agent in winemaking. Some varieties of grapes or fruits have a higher tendency of foaming, creating a potentially messy problem if there is limited headspace in storage vessels. Antifoam agents can help prevent the issue of frothing or help to alleviate the issue if it unexpectedly becomes a problem.
